Samsung Mobile Phones is one of five business units within Samsung Electronics, belonging to the Samsung Group. Samsung Group is a South Korean multinational conglomerate headquartered in Samsung Town, Seoul. It comprises numerous affiliated businesses, most of them united under the Samsung brand. It released its first Android smartphone in 2009, and can be credited with the launch of the first Android tablet back in 2010. It is the world’s largest manufacturer of mobile phones and smartphones fueled by the popularity of its Samsung Galaxy line of devices. The company is also a major vendor of tablet computers, particularly its Android-powered Samsung Galaxy Tab collection, and is generally regarded as pioneering the phablet market through the Samsung Galaxy Note family of devices.
